Mrs. Wendy Leatherwood

 

Wendy Leatherwood believes in building strong relationships with the community, parents, and students. It’s her desire to always bring out the very best in everyone so they can reach the goals they desire for their life. Mrs. Leatherwood understands the importance of students learning skills that will enable them to become productive members of society by obtaining work experience, vocational training, certificates, military, workforce, community college, technical college, or University degrees. She is excited to begin each school year with new beginnings, new adventures, new friendships, and new challenges.

 

She has taught for 20 years at the elementary school level (Peachtree Elementary and Murphy Elementary) with experience in 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. For the past 10 years, Mrs. Wendy Leatherwood has been at the high school level (Murphy High School) as the Distance Learning Facilitator, Assistant Principal, and, currently, Principal.

 

She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Carolina University, Master of Education from Coppin State University, and Educational Specialist in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy Reading: Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood.
